Hailing from Papua New Guinea, this coffee producer has done amazing things to be both socially and environmentally responsible. The Sigri Estate supports a strong social agenda that provides free housing, free healthcare, and free schooling to the coffee pickers and farmers who work tirelessly to help produce these unique coffees.
At the Sigri Estate, all coffee is grown at over 5,000 feet elevation. Sigri considers soil and water conservation as a priority, and the estate is bird and eco-friendly. Sigri uses two main types of shade trees. This promotes even ripening of coffee cherries and provides habitat for at least 90 species of birds. This coffee also tends to be a little less acidic than some coffees which makes it perfect for drinkers who are looking for the smoothest cup.
