Introducing our first decaf with Lakeside! This decaf comes from the region of Colombia known as the conservation corridor. Farmers in Valle del Cauca are strongly aware of the importance of the preservation of natural resources, water management and friendly environmental practices. The region was once a prominent producer of coffee, but much of the land is now dedicated to producing sugar cane. This sugar cane is used in the decaffeination process.
This sugar cane process is known as a “natural” decaffeination process. This process extracts around 97% of the caffeine, and it begins with fermentation of molasses derived from sugarcane.
From this natural process it leaves a pleasant and sweet flavor.
