Cold Brew - Right in Your Kitchen
Cold brew is a great way to brew your coffee. Its smooth drinking and . Here is a quick recipe that you can easily put together right in your kitchen.
Here’s what you will need:
- 16oz mason jar (or pint glass)
- ¼ cup or coarse ground coffee (largest your grinder has)
- Small mesh colander (or cheese cloth)
- Water
Start by grinding your coffee grounds, you will need ¼ cup for a 16oz jar/cup. Next, pour the grounds into your cup.
For a little extra flavor, get the grounds wet with hot water. (This helps extract some flavor out of the coffee). After the grounds are wet for about 30 seconds, you can fill the cup the rest of the way with water. Slowly adding water to avoid making a huge mess.
Stir the grounds to make sure they are all saturated, then cover.
Place in your fridge for 12-24 hours for steep time. This varies but play around with it to see what you like the most. Overnight is an easy way to plan for this as the time passes a lot faster, haha.
Following your steep time, remove the jar from your fridge. Now it is time to strain out the coffee grounds. Using your mesh colander (or other options work as well), strain out the grounds into another glass. I recommend doing this in your sink, to avoid any accidents and make for an easy clean up.
This leaves you with a concentrate. You can drink this right away or add water to find your flavor balance.
You are good to go! The finished product can be stored in the fridge for up to two weeks if sealed properly.
.
You can have some fun with cold brew – use it in cocktails, infuse it with fruit to add some fun flavors.
